Unofficial Results for 2025 City/School Election
The outcome of several city council seats to be filled by write-in ballot from the Nov. 4 City/School Election had yet to be determined as of press deadline on Monday, Nov. 10.
County supervisors conducted the first tier canvass of the election today (Wednesday, Nov. 12). The second tier canvass will take place at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18.
The Leader will post the updated results when as they are known. The unofficial results for city elections include the following:
CITY ELECTIONS
Garner:
Tim Schmidt was reelected mayor of Garner with 356 votes..
Damon Quandt was re-elected to another term on the Garner City Council with 307 votes. Two newcomers on the council are Darrell Schumacher (317) and Matt Graham (328).
Britt
At Britt, Jim L. Nelson was elected mayor with 222 votes.
A total 140 write-in ballots were cast to fill two at-large seats on the Britt City Council. The outcome will be determined during the election canvass.
A two more seats (to fill vacancies) were won by Nolan Stewart (203) and Todd Romer (178).
Klemme
Ken Blank was reelected to another term as mayor with 53 votes.
There are 3 at-large seats to fill on the Klemme City Council. Incumbent David Abele, whose name was on the ballot, received 44 votes. There were also 47 write-in votes cast.'
Likewise, there were 13 write-in votes to fill another at-large vacancy on the city council/
Klemme voters approved a public measure to reduced the number of trustees on the Klemme Library Board from 6 resident members and 1 non-resident member to 4 resident members and 1 non-resident member. The vote was 60 yes to 5 no.
Corwith
Matt Hobscheidt was elected mayor of Corwith. Hobscheidt, received 53 votes.
A race for two seats on the Corwith City Council saw Sharon Spellins elected with 39 votes and Spencer Hankins with 37 votes.
Thirty-two votes were cast for candidate Scott A. Peterson.
Crystal Lake
Mayor Shawn Dontje was reelected to another term. Twenty-five votes were cast for Dontje.
Two at-large positions on the Crystal Lake City Council were on the ballot. Karen L. Pergande was elected with 22 votes. Diane M. Smith was also elected with the council with 27 votes.
Goodell
Barb Schaefer was elected Mayor of Goodell with 31 votes.
Goodell voters elected three to at-large seats on the city council. They are Angela Kern (29), Mark Stille (30), and Karen Green (27 votes).
Teresa A. Beck was also elected to the council to fill a vacancy. Beck received 30 votes.
Kanawha
At Kanawha, Mathieu Lemay received 45 votes for Mayor. There were also 74 write-in votes cast for mayor.
Kanawha voters elected 3 to the city council: Tim Lodin (112), Chad Lang (107) and Dana L Kraft (80). Candidate Phyllis Jordanger received 75 votes.
Jessica Fowles was elected to fill an unexpired term on the council with 99 votes.
Woden
Paul Buns was reelected to another as mayor of Woden. Buns received 30 votes. Nineteen votes were cast for candidate Susan Brandt.
All three incumbent council members were returned to office: Jeff Stucki (46), Andrew Plessel (43), and William Rout (44)
Forest City
Voters at Forest City elected two at-large members to the city council: Karl Wooldridge (308 votes) and Marcia Tweeten (238). Other candidates were: Signe Meinders (126) and Barbara Ruiter (185).
Also elected to the Forest City Council: Ward 1- Carly C. Carper (119) and Ward 3 - Al Stokka (88)
SCHOOL ELECTIONS
Garner-Hayfield-Ventura
Voters in the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura School District elected 3 to the school board. Incumbents Jay Larkin and Dan Goll were re-elected. A total 478 votes were cast for Larkin and 439 votes for Dan Goll. Katie Schleusner is the newcomer on the GHV School Board with 431 votes.
Other candidates were incumbent Jack Toppin (313), and Karla Juenger-Rudisill (284)
The GHV School District includes voters in Hancock and and Cerro Gordo Counties
West Hancock
There were 130 write-in votes cast for the Director At-Large seat on the West Hancock School Board. The winner will be determined during the election canvass.
A total 389 votes were cast for Jeremy Brogaard, who will serve as District 1 Director.
Jay Burgardt won reelection to the Director District 3 seat with 281 votes. Robert Eugene White Jr. received 171 votes
Belmond-Klemme
Voters in the Belmond-Klemme School District elected Gary Berkand and Melissa Arnold to two at-large seats on the Belmond-Klemme School Board. A total 545 votes were cast for Berkland and 578 votes for Arnold. Other candidates were Cody Ostendorf (507) and John Wacker (245).
Richard C. McDaniel was re-elected to the Director District 4 seat .with 785 votes.
The Belmond-Klemme School District includes voters in Wright, Hancock and Franklin Counties.
Algona School District
Voters in the Algona School District elected 3 to at-large seats on the school board: Jay Limbaugh (995), Rodney Davis (992), Lany Mitchell (980). The school district includes voters in Kossuth, Hancock, Winnebago and Humboldt Counties.
NIACC
David A. Steffens Jr. was reelected to Director District 1 on the NIACC Board of Directors. Steffens received a total 1,327 votes. The district includes Hancock (111 votes), Kossuth (3), Winnebago (1,124), and Worth (89).
