Maxine C. Boekelman

Maxine C. Boekelman, 85, of Britt, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at First Lutheran Church in Britt with Rev. Anna Wolf officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday at Cataldo Funeral Home, 178 First Ave., S.W., Britt and will resume one hour prior to services at the church.

Maxine Clara Boekelman, the daughter of Herman and Alice (Tegtmeyer) Schaefer, was born March 6, 1940, on a farm near Wesley. She attended country school in Orthel and Britt Townships until the eighth grade and graduated from Britt High School in 1958. On June 22, 1958, she was married to Harold Boekelman at First Lutheran Church in Britt. They farmed northwest of Britt, where they raised their family. Throughout the years, she helped raise livestock, milked cows, and raised chickens. She was always willing to help in the field and with their grain bin business. She and Harold also delivered motorhomes for Winnebago. Maxine enjoyed her family, farming, gardening, and her flowers. She was proud to be a blood donor for many years. In December of 2023, Maxine and Harold moved into Britt.

She was a lifetime member of First Lutheran Church, where she was active in the choir, First Lutheran Church Women and quilting groups.

Maxine is survived by her husband, Harold of Britt; daughter, Ramona (Michael) Jacobson of Ottosen; son, Paul (Amy) Boekelman of Britt; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Dustin) Pierce of Clive and their two children, Aiden and Ali, Marcus Jacobson of Ankeny, Megan (Luke) Watson of Iowa City and their two daughters, Penelope and Rose and Benjamin (Karlee) Jacobson of Marion and their son, Dawson; two sisters, Beverly (Dean) Cataldo of Garner and Doris Boekelman of Britt; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Alice Schaefer; parents-in-law, Heyo and Jennie Boekelman; and brother-in-law, George Boekelman. www.cataldofuneralhome.com
